Biography
Saad Bin Shafiq is the founder and CEO of Nodes and an independent AI researcher focused on how intelligent systems reason across disconnected data, preserve institutional context, and move from recommendation to accountable action.
He grew up in a small village in northern Pakistan with limited access to electricity, the internet, and technical resources. He began learning C# from a textbook, often writing programs on paper before he had regular access to a computer. That habit of working from first principles became the operating method behind his later work.
Saad completed a double major in computer science and mathematics at Hunter College in New York. Before founding Nodes, he built companies and software across AI and enterprise systems.
In 2023, after experiencing 699 job rejections, Saad founded Nodes. The original wedge was hiring: connecting fragmented applicant, assessment, and post-hire outcome data to identify signals old screening rules missed. The work expanded into a broader architecture for enterprise decisions.
Today, Nodes is an intelligence layer and system of action that runs inside the customer's environment, reads approved systems, drafts cross-system workflows, and waits for a person to approve, edit, or reject each action. Every pass creates a Decision Trace that preserves evidence, reasoning, action, and outcome.
Saad's independent research extends beyond the current product. His work spans multi-agent systems, mathematical foundations of AI, persistent memory and context, decision science, and future compute architectures. He treats implementation as part of the research process: formalize the question, build or simulate the system, test it against reality, and separate what is proven from what remains exploratory.

- Start from first principles
- Understand the underlying system before accepting the category, workflow, or architecture as fixed.
- Close the research loop
- Move from question to model, from model to implementation, and from implementation to evidence.
- Keep humans accountable
- Systems can surface evidence and draft action. Consequential decisions still need a person who can approve, edit, reject, and explain them.
- Label certainty honestly
- Production evidence, applied R&D, and exploratory hypotheses should not be presented as if they carry the same level of proof.
